Kalapi – Handwoven Tissue Pure Paithani Silk
Paithani sarees are known for their intricate handwoven silk and Tissue Zari work and are a traditional specialty of the Paithan region in Maharashtra. Today Yeola town in Nashik, Maharashtra is the largest manufacturer of Paithani. The key element of a Paithani is its completely hand-woven border and pallu. Woven between the weft and warp threads, it creates almost mirror image of face design at the reverse side of the Saree. A key tell-tale sign of an authentic Paithani is that it looks exactly the same on both sides.
